Summer Projects

We have a few projects going on around here.  Patrick is outside re-finishing our bed and since I had some sewing to do this week, I had to find a way to be outside! I moved shop to the yard, it was great :) Ronan is content snacking in his high chair or practicing crawling! We have one of those shade tents from Costco=awesome! It is so perfect for Ronan to play and move around while staying in the shade. It has been the best thing this summer!

On the move- babbling to himself and going after mommy's magazine

it's a good read ;)

Guess What?

We have a CRAWLER! We knew this day was just around the corner. So exciting!!!  It has  been so fun watching Ronan work toward this milestone. He was frustrated at times, but persistent. I love that about babies. They are so persistent! This week he learned how to move his arms forward (instead of flailing them to his sides like he's done since he was itsy-bitsy) and then use those awesome little abs to pull both legs forward at once.  And then it just clicked! We love watching him set out for something and get it. yay baby! He's not terribly fast yet (lucky for us), but he definitely surprises us with where he ends up and what he's getting into. And so it begins...

oh, and he cut another tooth last night. what a day

Dancing

Someone around here loves Mumford & Sons. And the Black Eyed Peas. And my work out videos. Pretty much anything with a strong beat sets his little head a shakin'. (sorry it's the wrong direction again. I'm getting better at that, except this one video which is too good not to share. Anyone know how to fix it once it's loaded onto the computer??). I can't wait until he can stand and get that cute little bootie into it too :)

Picnic at Manito

Patrick has been unexpectedly busy with classes this summer quarter, but with that wrapping up next week we started a list of things we want to do this summer.  My side of the list reads like: lake time, farmers market, trip to Coeur d'Alene, camping...you get the picture. Patrick's list: work on basement, clean out garage, wash cars (done!)... I like to think we balance each other out :)  To be fair, Patrick wants to do the fun things too and I know the other stuff needs to be done. That's why we made a list; to be sure we get a little of both types done.

All that to say that I had an idea last night that would kill four birds with one stone. Sweet. I wanted to take some "9 month" photos of Ronan, so we packed up for a picnic at Manito, took some photos (coming soon), walked the dog while we wandered the gardens and topped it off with ice cream from The Scoop. Perfection.

Ready to crawl. He's got the rock down

Wrestling with dad is his new favorite game

Yum

and yum

Ronan has tried many new foods lately. Pretty much likes everything. Fish, egg, yogurt, cheerios, graham crackers. But the most recent favorites are apparently string cheese and peaches. He devours them. He attacked this peach with gusto and finished the whole piece. All those new teeth have come in handy :)

I think they're both looking at the dog. With the same exact expression.

So beautiful

Ah...summer!

We are loving summer around the Reed household! Just a few pics from last week to share what we've been up to.

"What have they done to me?"

Remember when we used to talk about how much Ronan needed his "alone time"?  He would practically beg for it in his own baby way (crying of course).  Well, those days have passed. For now at least.  He's at that stage now where he just wants to be with us all the time and only likes to play by himself for very short periods.  He is so interactive now and we can see that he is learning so much! It really is a lot of fun, but a little more trying at times.  We try to find creative ways to hang with him but still get stuff done.  Luckily he is not just a momma's boy but a daddy's boy too :)

First lawn mowing experience :)

This is his "mom, get me out of here" look.

As you can see, a lot of hanging out, playing and time outside. Loving this weather!
