Week 4

Week 4 in Kennewick seemed to absolutely fly by. Ronan was sick for a few days so I got tons of good snuggle time in . :)  This also meant he got to watch a few movies and television shows (definitely a treat, though he was pretty zoned out the whole time). Poor little guy. He bounced back though and was in full Ronan character by the end of the week.

totally sacked out while I was folding laundry

Ronan had a couple of nightly traditions with his Nana and Papa that I think he will miss. Every day after work, Ronan and his Papa had quite the conversation about the day's events. He loves telling stories to his Papa and they are so entertaining to listen to. I really wish we had some of it on video.  Another ritual was bathtime with Nana. He had SO much fun each night during this time.

We even managed to squeeze in a date night this week :)  This rotation was insanely busy, so I felt very blessed that it worked out to have a nice date before baby girl comes. It was so nice to know too that Ronan was sleeping soundly in his bed and we didn't have to feel rushed to get home to a baby sitter.  We went out for dinner and drinks (strawberry lemonade for me!) and just relaxed, talked, tried to decide on a baby name...it was great!

kind of a silly picture, but oh well

We really can't believe how quickly the month passed. I almost wasn't ready to leave!  It is definitely nice to be home, but it really was a great month.  It was a special thing for Ronan to have so much time with his Nana and Papa. Beyond what words can express, we appreciated being so welcomed and cared for. It was a huge blessing to me especially with Patrick being so busy! Thank you!

Cute as a Button

A couple weeks ago me and baby girl were completely spoiled by friends and family at our baby shower. Six of my closest girlfriends completely outdid themselves, treating me and all of my guests with the cutest, most well thought-out details from the invitations to the pre-addressed thank you cards.  The theme was "Cute as A Button" and there was the perfect amount of "button-ness" (yep, that's a new word) and cuteness - not too much, not too little, just right.

Showers are such a unique and special thing. I kind of feel bad that guys don't get to experience them (Not that they would want to necessarily).  I just always feel so blessed to get to be at a great party with all of my loved family and friends, knowing they are there because they love me and want to support me.  Inevitably, there are always a few people I haven't seen in far too long and to have them there is one of my favorite parts of the day.  For me, the whole experience brings so much joy. So thank you to those who put it all together, those who gave up a few hours of their day to celebrate the fast-approaching arrival of Baby Girl Reed.

Warning, this post contains a lot of photos!

Week 3

Week 3 here in Kennewick was filled with a little rain, a little sunshine and a lot of wind. Usually each in heavy doses.  Ronan and I came back from Spokane Monday to a crazy-hot 91 degrees! I was ready to jump in the pool!  That night Patrick and I saw awesome lightening over the hills. Little did we know it was the prelude to a CRAZY storm. We were a little worried about Kohly outside, but when we checked on him, he was resting in his crate. Well, we woke up the next morning to the cotton innards of his bed spread out all over the patio. Apparently he was a little upset with us!

I really cannot remember what we did all week, but I know it was nice, relaxing and low key. My memory is simply awful these days...

We did get outside whenever possible. Ronan surveys the back yard every day and makes another round when Papa gets home. He especially likes the garden area and playing with the fun tools. And of course, who would want to play with the plastic rake when there is a real one to have fun with?

Belly. He's pretty fascinated with bellies lately :)

Kohly's living it up

Yogurt monster. The only remedy for this mess was a bath!
Rainy days call for chocolate chip cookies. Ronan was my little helper, although all he really wanted to do was eat the ingredients or the mixed dough. And since he has a pretty good reach and I didn't have a way to  latch down the booster seat, his time as my helper was very short lived. :)

Both of my sister in laws and some of their friends came for the weekend. They came over for the Yakima Valley Spring Barrel Tasting. Oh, jealous (so I went and got my hair done instead). I'm all in for wine tasting next year because you better believe I will NOT be pregnant! This body needs a break.  Anyway, it was a gorgeous, fun-filled weekend spent outside and we were so glad to spend time with Rach and Jac.

Ronan was completely freaked out when his Nana started washing off the patio. I'm not really sure why, but he was terrified. We showed him how much fun it was to splash in the puddles and he thought it was great after that!
